'Maybelline - Super Stay - 24H Full Coverage Foundation' - Review

Hello Readers,

Welcome back to another blog post, and yes, again it is a foundation review. I know, I'm sorry, how predictable! Again, this week has been just so manic and busy. My reviews are going to start being different. I am thinking I will do a dupes blog soon, or a 'full face of' blog. Anyway, back to this blog, I have been trying out the brand 'Maybelline' and the product of their '24H (hour) Full Coverage Foundation' in their 'Super Stay' collection. Here are my thoughts and opinions.

As I mentioned above, this is from the brand 'Maybelline - New York'. It is one of the most easiest and accessible brands that you can pick in most drug stores, as well as supermarkets and some other stores that sell make-up in the UK. This foundation retails in the drug store at £9.99. You get 30ml of product. It is available in 28 shades, perfect for every almost every skin tone. It has some very big claims such as "Full Coverage" and "24 Hour" wear.

The first part of this blog I want to discuss is the shades. This foundation is available in 28 shades. In my opinion there could be some more shades added in for the deep and deep dark complexions. There are quite a few shades for the fair to light complexions, which I don't think are that necessary. For example there are 4 different shades for Ivory. True, they all have different undertones, but I don't think there needs to be that many shades.

Finding my perfect match was a bit struggle. I do like it when a brand does have a guide to which foundation can try and match my skin tone the most. With this, I couldn't 'Maybelline' having a matching process of which shade would work with which undertone. Originally I picked up the shade '03 True Ivory'. When I swatched this in the shop, I thought it was going to be  my 'perfect match'. Once I purchased the foundation and let it sit, and sort of oxidize I noticed this shade was not the right one for me. While swatching, I did notice most of the ivory foundations in this collection had yellow undertones, for example the '03 True Ivory'. Until I actually found a match maker online through Pintrest, and went back into my drug store and swatched another shade, I found my right match. This surprisingly, was in the shade '05 Light Beige'. This one looks like it has more of a pink undertone. I was quite surprised that this would be my shade, as the beige shades are not really the color of my complexion.

From my experience, if you are going to buy a foundation in this rage, my advice would be swatch it first on your neck, leave it for a bit to oxidize and then work out if this is your shade. That way you get more of match that is suited to your skin, and not do what I did and waste your money on a shade that you have to try and make work.

The foundation itself is amazing. It is defiantly one of my favorites in the drug store. I have actually added this to my top 5. 'Super Stay' dries down matte. This is perfect for me as that's what I like and that's what I go for in foundations. I find that it does last all day. I have very oily skin, so for me, in some certain places the foundation does slide about and start to come off, but that is normal no matter what foundation I use. My problem area's are around my nose, and a bit on my forehead. With this foundation it was mainly on my nose that was the problem area which I was very happy with, as I have finally found a foundation with good stick-ability that will last a long time. So claim 1 with the 'Super Stay' has been approved, as well as claim 2 '24H' lasting.

Claim 3 full coverage. I have been using this foundation all week and from looking at it throughout the day I can certainly say it is on the fuller side (as well as pale, due to my wrong shade choice). It has managed to hide my blemishes and redness, which is always a massive plus. Being a full coverage foundation, it is still very breathable on the skin. It does not cake up on the face, and does give you a flawless skin effect. So the claim of being 'Full Coverage' has also been approved.

As I previously touched on, the price for this foundation is £9.99. I don't think it is a bad price at all. It has managed to do exactly as it says on the lid. My only problem is that, again it comes down to the shade match, if you buy the wrong shade it is a lot of money for something that you have to try and make work. I feel like you get a good amount of product to. It contains 30ml of product. I know that some readers may think that is not a lot for the price, but you do have to consider that 'Maybelline' is a brand that everyone knows and everyone mostly uses.

Now for the negative part of this blog. The only things I can really think of are the shade range needing to cater to every skin, and by that I mean more deep / deep dark skin, and also the fact that there needs to be a more helpful shade finder. As there are 28 shades in this brand, I feel there needs to be a guide to help you pick near enough your shade. Also I feel like there needs to be more undertones in this collection as they are more yellow based.

I would recommend this foundation. Personally as I have said before, it is one of my favorites (now I have the correct shade). It lives up to all the claims on the bottle. It is full coverage, it lasts a long time on the face. It does not have a strong perfumed scent. It keeps skin looking flawless. For £9.99 this foundation is worth investing in.

  1. The new trendy vegan eyeshadow is a, "highly Profusion's eyeshadow that lasts all day and night." This product is a great addition to anyone's makeup arsenal. It has a smooth velvety texture with a, "high-pigment formula" which helps to keep the makeup grip on for longer periods of time.
