'Soph X Revolution - Extra Spice - Eyeshadow Palette' - Review

Hello Readers,

Welcome back to another highly anticipated blog post. I had a lot of people ask me to write a blog post that would continue the collection of the 'Soph X Revolution' collaboration. So in this review today I am going to be discussing the 'Extra Spice' eyeshadow palette, that was released the same time with the 3 nude lipsticks (click here to go back to the previous blog post).

First of all, Soph (aka. Sophdoesnails) is a YouTuber and beauty influencer. The 'Extra Spice' palette is the 2nd eyeshadow collaboration that Soph has made with Revolution. This palette retails at an affordable £10. It is available in most drug stores. The palette itself is vegan and cruelty free. It also was released the same time as the 3 nude lipsticks (I have recently blogged about).

Let's talk packaging. 'Extra Spice' has reverse packaging from her first palette. It's case is mirrored rose gold with the font 'Soph X' in cream. The back of the palette it's the same color as the front font - cream. I do really like the palette packaging. This gives it more of a part 2 feeling from her first palette. The box itself comes in more of a frosted rose gold, again with cream font.

Now moving onto the shades. This palette has very warm tones. Quite a few oranges, reds, browns with hints of yellow and gold. This palette to me, is more about colors, being bright and bold. Compared to her debut palette, which was more of an everyday, cool tone palette (review will be soon). I feel the lay out of the shades are in perfect places. Surprisingly, when you first open it, for the amount of bright colors that are in it, you don't get too intimidated. All the colors are very easy to wear.

The pigmentation of the mattes are very strong. They are easy to blend, and work really well. There is a bit of fall out, but that doesn't really bother me. It's only falls out a little bit and, it is more on the bright red and yellow. But for an affordable palette that is pretty normal. The formula of the mattes are very soft. Some of my favorite matte shades are Cookie Dough (this is a soft brown, perfect for a transition and great to build as a smokey eye), Reputation (I've said this before, I do love a palette with a matte black) and Chocolate Orange (described as a sienna brown, which is a light brownie-orange).

The shimmers for me are what make this palette so pretty. I love the shades Everyday (stated as 'very pale purple with a white shift'. This also has a duo-chrome finish. Perfectly described), Dreams (a warm champagne shimmer finish) and Romance (burgundy with a pink shift again a shimmer finish). There are a few more shimmers in this palette, but these are the ones that stand out to me. Again, the shimmers did have a bit of all out, but as I mentioned, that doesn't really bother me. You can always intensify the shimmers by using fixing spray on the brush, but they are very bright to begin with, so take that as a warning.

'Extra Spice' as I have previously mentioned does have a very bright and bold concept, which is why its called 'Extra Spice'. There are some colors that can be used for an everyday look. I do use this palette on some of my clients that are asking for very bright looks. This palette would be perfect for holiday make-up. This palette works well for all skin tones.

Onto my personal thoughts on how I use the palette. With 'Extra Spice' I have given this palette a few goes to try and make different looks. For me, I prefer her first palette. Don't get me wrong this is a beautiful palette, I just feel these colors are too bright for my liking. I do tend to lean towards using the browns a lot more.

This palette is perfect for traveling. You do get 18 shades in this palette. You get 6 shimmers and 12 mattes. I like that you do get more mattes then shimmers. I think this palette does work well as an accent palette to her first palette. But then again, her first palette in my opinion is her best one, as it works well for me and I do use that one more.

So to finalize, I would recommend this palette for people to buy. It's £10! The formula's are great, the packaging is beautiful and the shimmers perform very well. Obviously, I would recommend this for people who like brighter palettes. But even if bright colors are not your thing, it is still worth buying as you can always use this palette to experiment with color and try out new looks. Plus you get excellent shimmers which are great for on the lid or even as an inner corner highlight.
