'Lottie London - Shimmer Squad - Holographic Haul' - Review
Hello Readers,
This week I have been loving highlighters more than usual. Lately, I have been on the look out for the most blinding highlighters for the face. This one that I'm about to review today, has done just that. This is the 'Lottie London - Shimmer Squad - Holographic Haul'. Let's get into the review.
First of all, this palette is from the brand Lottie London. This (as most of you know) is one of my favorite brands. I feel like Lottie London is a brand that some people sleep on. Big mistake! The products are amazing and the prices are very affordable. The 'Holographic Haul' contains 4 highlighters, at the price of £9.95. Its paraben free, vegan friendly, and cruelty free. Also as an extra bonus, its also gluten free.
So let's move onto the shades. Obviously, this palette of colors is more of a night out, party, outta this world glam. Although there are a few shades that you can use on a day-to-day basis. I am going to break down each shade in more detail.
The first shade in the palette is called 'The Rebel'. This is an iridescent blue. I found this shade to be quite pale and a tad on the icy side. Honestly, that wasn't a problem for me, as I do like icy blues. Especially for the eyes. I have mainly been using this on the lid (depending on the look) or more for the inner corner highlight.
This then leads me to the next shade called 'The Gossip'. Now, I don't know if this is a play on word as sometimes when people spread gossip, it normally comes from a place of jealousy. What color is associated with jealousy? Green! This is quite a greeny-yellow highlight. Personally, my least favorite as I do not like the color green. This has been my least go to shade. I have however, thought of a make-up look I think this shade would go well for, but it's more for a fancy dress kinda look.
Now, onto the packaging. I really like how simple the colors are. I like the way how it is kept black and white, with holographic stars on the front. The palette itself is made of a strong card. I'm not too mad about the palette material, I personally would have used a plastic just to keep it really secure. The palette opens and closes via magnet. The palette also contains a small mirror, which is really handy. I do like on the back of the packaging they have a drawing of where to apply the highlight. I think this is a great touch for beginners, and for people in general who need to know where highlight goes.
My only negatives about this palette would be, the packaging made of card (I'm not going to repeat myself again though). I also would change the greeny color. For me, it's just a shade I do not use, and probably won't use (on the cheeks) unless it was for a fancy dress party or I could find a look to make it work. I'm not hating the shade by any means, it's just not a shade that I look at and think 'I'm going to wear green higher today'. But saying that, I will give this green another go, but maybe not as a cheek highlight, but more of a eye lid topper.

The next shade is called 'The BFF' and what a name the shade lived up to. As this is a pinkie-iridescent color, this has been my go to shade. It looks perfect on the inner corner for my eye looks. It's beautiful above the cheeks. I have also used 'The BFF' as my nose highlight. I have also tried blending it alongside my blush to give my cheeks a subtle glow, which surprisingly worked really well. This one is my favorite shade in the palette.

The last shade in the palette is called 'The Thrill Seeker'. Again, one of the shades I have used quite a lot this pass week. This is a purple iridescent color. I have been using this above my cheeks, above my brow bow as well as on my brow bone. I have used this one also on my cupids bow and on my chin. This shade is stunning (I could be slightly biased with this shade as purple is one of my favorite colors).
All 4 shades are very bright and have an excellent color pay off. I have found to really intensify the colors is to use a setting spray on the brush. Some highlighters work better when they are wet. With this palette you don't really need to do it, but if you want to make it really pop then that works well. I have been applying these with either a fan brush (not my preferred method), or using a tapered highlighter brush.

I would say this compact would be perfect for traveling with. The colors can be used for almost every occasion. The only thing that worries me, is how strong the card will be if it got knocked or dropped as, the last thing I would want is a broken highlight. If this was to happen, with the formula being soft, I'm pretty sure I would be able to just pat it back in place with a brush or my finger.

My final thoughts are that, I would recommend this highlighter palette to everyone as the colors are so pretty and can be easily used, not just for above the cheeks, but they also work well on the eyes, as lid toppers, or even in the inner corner. I think £9.95 for 4 very pigmented shimmer shades is a reasonable price. This is definitely worth purchasing and a palette you need in your make-up collection.
