'Barry M - Unicorn Primer Drops - Beauty Elixir' - Review
Hello Readers,
You know the routine now. I went through my collection of make up and looked at products that I have used, and I have chosen to write a review on the 'Barry M - Unicorn Primer Drops - Beauty Elixir'. I remember when this primer was released and the massive hype that came along with it. Here are my thoughts.
Being teased on the Barry M Instagram page on the 13th August 2018 and launching in stores on the 29th August 2018, this primer had so much hype in the beauty community. Living in the phase where make-up artists on Instagram would start there videos dropping primers and foundations onto their faces, this primer was going to be used for exactly that.
Packed with super fruits including acai berry, goji berry, watermelon and tamarind, this vegan friendly and cruelty free primer helps hydrate and sooth skin before your make-up application.
This primer contains 15ml of product. It also retails for £7.99. The unicorn primer uses a pipette, which you need to squeeze the top to bring the product up. Once there is enough product, again squeeze the top again to drop the primer onto your face. This can then be blended with either fingers, brush or beauty blender. For me personally, I prefer to use my fingers in circular motions to move the product around my face, like applying a serum or face cream.
Now for my thoughts. Firstly, I am getting quite over the phase of unicorns, and mystical creatures. Almost every brand is doing some sort of idea of unicorn eye shadows, unicorn primer, unicorn eyeliner, so this to me needed to be a bit more original. I can understand that the primer is pink and does contain some pink glitter in, so I do feel that it is fitting for the name. But maybe this should have been released as a competitor with other brands.
So, my final thoughts. This is a very good primer, it does make the skin feel soft and gives a healthy glow. It has extra benefits by including super fruits which make the skin feel great. It helps my make up not only last longer, but also keeps it in place. I also love the packaging. I feel this is quite unique as this is more of a square shape rather than a bottle or tube.

Secondly, the formula. It has quite a nice soft feel once applied on the face. It is very light weight. The pink glitter is also very subtle (which I like). It does feel quite tacky to start with, for me this is not a problem as I feel this helps keep my base in place. It also blends out great on the face and does not leave a pink cast. This also works well with all skin types, especially oily. It also works well in just being part of your daily skin care.

Thirdly, the pipette. I don't know if it is just the one I picked up or if this happens to most of them, but I find it very hard to get a lot of product in the pipette. Now, one of my other friends who uses this has also said that they struggle to get the product out and onto their face, so I'm not sure if its actually the tool itself or if the pipette is just too small to have a lot of product.
My forth point is the scent. As this contains a lot of super fruits (which again are great for the skin) this does have quite a sweet smell. This for me, was a bit off putting. I don't mind scents, especially sweet smelling ones, but this was a little over powering. Don't get me wrong, I did get used to it quickly, but initially it was quite strong.
My fifth and sixth points are the size and price. I do feel the size of the primer 15ml is too small. Even for the price. It's £7.99, which is quite a lot for a primer with that much product. Having saying that, with how small the bottle is, it is perfect for traveling.

My negatives, as I touched on are the price, and the size of the product. I would just need a little bit more product for the price. Also the pipette, I feel this needs a bit of work on. Again it could be that I picked up a bottle that doesn't work, but if this is the case in all of the primers, then this will need to be looked into.
I would recommend this primer for people to try. It is a little on the pricey side, but it does help with make-up and also has great skin care benefits. Even if this is just used in your skin care routine, you will see a difference in how you look and feel.
