'Barry M - Shipwrecked Eyeshadow Palette' - Review

Hello Readers,

First of all, who has been loving the new series of 'Shipwrecked'? I can't tell you how obsessed I am with it. I have been watching it every night, without fail. I only mentioned it as while I was looking through my draws I found 'Barry M - Shipwrecked' eyeshadow palette and thought "why not do a 'Shipwrecked' theme blog post?" So here it is.

In the TV show (don't worry! The blog post will be about the actual palette), there are 2 tribes. The Sharks, and the Tigers. Both tribes need to battle out to have the most people in their tribe to win the competition. I have created 2 eye looks based on using colors from the tribes. But first lets talk about the palette itself.

Inside the palette you get 18 shades. You get 10 metallic shimmers and 8 mattes. A great mix there. The color concept is very jungle meets beach theme, which I really like as this would be a perfect palette for holidays. The palette is vegan and retails for £12.99.

Let's talk about the shades and formulas. The shade range is very nice. You can tell that when you pick this up you are getting very bright colors, which is why I mentioned this palette being great for holidays. The mattes have an amazing soft formula. They are very pigmented. They work great with a dry brush, but if you want a very solid color I defiantly recommend using the brush wet. (This can be done by spraying primer water or fixing spray on the brush). The shimmers on the other hand are not so great. They contain a lot of fall out and work better using your finger for application. I found that a brush didn't work as well.

The packaging feels very light, which is a good thing for people who travel. You get 0.9g of product per eyeshadow. I feel like that is enough. I like the clear plastic lid as you get to see the colors before you buy it. I think this is a great selling tool.

The stand out colors in this palette are all the mattes. They worked so well and I was quite surprised with that. The shimmers look pretty and they swatch beautifully, but on the eye lid, they just don't show up as well.

With this palette, I created 2 looks inspired by the 'Shipwrecked' TV show, and it's tribes. For the first look, I created a blue eye for Team Sharks. I used the light blue on the lid, the dark blue in the crease and the silver shimmer for the lid, with the light gold in the inner corner. (See image 4)

The second eye look I created was inspired by team sharks. Using more of the browns and oranges. (This eye I was very happy with) The shades blended out better for this look. I used the browns for the outer v and the orange shades for the lid. (See image 5)

To summaries, I did like this palette, I thought the combination of colors were good. The mattes I would use again. As I mentioned, they were a very soft formula and were very pigmented. But the shimmers on the other hand, were a bit of a let down. I would give the shimmers another go, and try them out again, but I don't think they will be a go to in my collection.

The price of the palette is £12.99. Personally I don't think it is worth that. I'm not saying it was a bad palette, I just think it is on the pricier side for what you are getting. There are a lot more other palettes in the drug store at the moment, which contain highly pigmented shimmers and mattes for a lesser price. I will certainly have a look out to see if maybe there can be some dupes for this palette about.

I would recommend this palette, mainly for the mattes. It would be a great palette for going on holiday or going to parties. You have a range of colors to play around with. I am going to give the shimmers another go, just because I think it does have great potential to be an amazing palette. The price, for £12.99, I think there are a lot more other palettes that maybe worth the money, but if you are like me and enjoy make up, then this one is something you need to pick up and add to your collection.

Please check out my Instagram and comment which tribe you would be in on 'Shipwrecked' under this review. Would you be Team Shark, or Team Tigers?
