'Revolution Fast Base Stick Foundation' - Review
Hello Readers,
Today is the first official make-up blog post. I wanted to start off with something that broke the internet in the make-up community. It is, of course, the 'Revolution Fast Base Stick Foundation'. This was released after the 'Conceal & Define Concealer' (Blog post coming soon).
This was first teased on Instagram (@makeuprevolution) on the 21st January 2018. It was advertised to be available in 18 shades, which is extremely impressive for a drug store foundation. Affordable; which again for a drug store foundation is really good. Buildable coverage; this was one of my favorite selling points, as being a make-up artist some of my clients prefer a lighter coverage, while others prefer a much more full coverage base, so I could use this foundation to adapt to their needs. Another point was a clue in the name... Fast. This to me I found as something that drew me in even more, as when traveling it is quick and easy to apply, as well as clients that asked me do their make-up with limited time. Finally, it was Revolution's first ever foundation. Let's break this down and go into more detail.
Released on the 28th February 2018, 18 shades made their way onto shelves in local drugstores as well as online. I previously touched on how impressed I was for a drug store foundation to release 18 shades, especially at an affordable price. On the Revolution site this retails at £5 per stick foundation (UK currency). For the price, you would be silly not to invest in one. I did a comparison price online and I found that this foundation is still the cheapest. What a bargain!
The amount of product that is in these foundation sticks are 6.2 grams (see image 2 for amount of product). They are also vegan and cruelty free, which is a bonus.
Each shade starts with F (meaning foundation) and then a number. For example, F1, F2, F3... Right up to F18. There is a shade for everyone. From the fairest skin tones to the darkest skin tones. Each with an undertone that is suited to your skin. For myself I use the shade F3. This is for fair skin tones with pink undertones.
The foundation can not only be used for your skin tone base, (but providing you chose the right shades) you can also use this to highlight and contour with lighter and darker shades. This is very easily bendable with a brush (which is my preferred method) or a beauty blender / make-up sponge.
Revolution Fast Base Stick Foundation is very easy to apply. It has a very soft formula which can easily glide across the face for a even coverage. The finish is dewy (If you prefer more of a matte finish you can always set with powder. This will also give you a bit more coverage). The coverage (again depending how much you want to use) is medium to full. This will leave your skin looking flawless.
For me personally I do enjoy using this foundation. I thought the coverage was just about right. It managed to hide my blemishes, it also didn't block my pores. I also found that this was the best foundation for when taking photos. When first applied, it did give me a nice dewy effect, with a flawless finish. But as personal preference I just prefer more of a matte finish.
My only negative is that, I did find myself powdering down my face after about five-six hours, but being a stick foundation that is normal for me. I do have an oily t-zone, forehead and cheeks. Most stick foundations that I have tired on myself or my clients, I find they are great for all skin types except oily. I feel this foundation would work very well on dryer skin completions.
On a final note, I would say Revolution's first foundation was worth the hype across online and social media. Again, the foundation caters to all people with an extensive range of skin tones. But as I previously mentioned for £5 it is worth a try.
